Wash less than you think. Wool is naturally odour-resistant, so airing a knit overnight often does more than a wash cycle, and every wash is a little wear.

When you do wash, go cold and gentle, then dry flat. Hanging a wet knit stretches the shoulders out of shape, and heat is what turns soft wool scratchy.

Fold, never hang, and give moths nothing to eat. Store clean knits folded with cedar, and your best pieces will still look considered next winter.
